Writer / Director / Producer / Arts Practitioner

CAREY HAMBLETT has worked extensively across television, film and the arts. Creating and scripting TV drama for the international market high concept television drama series and a feature animation are in development. Along with creating projects in London and LA she has been a regular attendee at Cannes, Galway, Berlin and the AFM film markets. Soon to be released is U.S. heritage documentary “PCH-1: Not Just A Highway – A Way of Life”.

Initially working in theatre costume/decor design closely with director and cast developing a passion for narrative and character she entered the broadcast industry in  BBC scripting before moving into production management for independent companies on high profile rock music and animation programs. Commitment to the environment led to directing the Eco Rock concert distributed worldwide 1990 – the first woman in the UK to film a major outdoor rock concert. She went on to head the development department of a London company and scripted and produced youth drama for Channel 4. She has been a consultant on projects across most genres, created workshops for writers, directors and actors and lectured in cinema studies at London colleges and Brighton Film School, Alongside film and television production Carey has maintained her art practice with work exhibited and multimedia projects in London and Los Angeles.

Carey was raised in the shires of England and on the California coast. Educated at Dunhurst, Bedales Prep School,  the family then moved to Santa Monica where her father was the foremost Hollywood correspondent for the British press. Returning to the UK she trained in Fine Art & Theatre Design at Wimbledon College for the Arts with post-graduate studies at the London International Film School.
